Teams are for work that benefits from multiple specialists. A typical team includes a Manager plus agents for engineering, review, testing, writing, or research.

When to use a team

Use a team when:
  • The work has multiple parts.
  • You want a Manager to coordinate specialists.
  • You need review or QA after implementation.
  • Agents should hand work to each other.
  • You want to monitor a longer workflow.

Team creation paths

PathUse when
TemplateYou want a prebuilt team shape
Guided descriptionYou want Syndicate to draft a roster from a project description
Build your teamYou want to start with a Manager and add specialists yourself

Manager control modes

Teams with a Manager can run under different levels of autonomy.
ModeBehavior
AutopilotManager can plan, delegate, follow up, and keep agents moving without approval
Approve New WorkManager can coordinate, but asks before creating new tasks or expanding scope
Approve Each StepManager asks before every delegation, follow-up, reroute, or new instruction
Start with Approve New Work until you trust the team shape.

Hard pause

Hard pause stops team dispatches and blocks new automatic dispatch. Use it when a team is moving too quickly, a provider is misconfigured, or you want to inspect work before anything else runs. Resuming a paused team does not automatically restart agents. They run again when prompted or dispatched.
